Celebrated in Hindu mythology and religion, the Garhwal Himalayas are said to be the "Abode of the Gods". The river Ganges takes its source in this remote massif, at the sacred shrine of Gangotri, and rushes down to the plains in a torrential fury. Very few trekkers follow this itinerary which will lead to one of the
most important spots of Hindu spirituality, where you will experience strange atmosphere of religious fervour. Gaumukh is where the waters of Ganga trickle down from the glaciers. The sages called it 'Gaumukh', because in the distant past, it probably appeared like a cow's mouth; though today it no longer appears so. From Gangotri we move along the beaten track towards Chirbasa, which is on the tree line. From here, we can get a clear view of the Bhagirathi Peak. After Chirbasa, the terrain becomes really desolate and barren and then we reach Bhojwasa. Gaumukh Glacier is just four kilometers ahead. To reach Nandanvan, we need to take a detour from Bhojwasa. The first glimpse of Shivlinga Peak from here, is like an ice-cream cone rising towards the sky. Nandanvan is another's day-trek ahead. From Gaumukh to Tapovan the ascent is steep, and as we climb, the view of the surrounding peaks becomes clearer. They appear to be just a stone's throw away. Nandanvan situated at the base of the Bhagirathi group of peaks, can be reached after crossing the Gangotri Glacier. It is an alpine meadow in the shadow of the Bhagirathi peaks.

Itinerary for Gangotri Gaumukh Tapovan Trekking:

Day 01 :
Arrive Delhi

On arrival met at the airport and transfer to the hotel. O/N stay at Hotel.

Day 02:
Delhi-Hardwar

Morning transfer to the station time to catch train for Hardwar. On arrival met at the station and transfer to the hotel.  Evening free to explore the Ghats and temples in Hardwar .Overnight in Hardwar.

Day 03:
Hardwar-Gangotri

Morning drive to Gangotri 270 kms. Lunch will be served enroute. Dinner & overnight in Gangotri.

Day 04:
Nandanvan / Tapovan

On day 4 of Gangotri Nandanvan Trek, after breakfast we undertake acclimatization/load ferry trek to Nandanvan/ Tapovan (4460 m) with packed lunch. In the afternoon, return trek to Bhojwasa for dinner & overnight stay.

Day 05:
Tapovan

10 kms trek to Tapovan with packed lunch. Dinner & overnight in camp.

Day 06:
Nandanvan

Trek to Nandanvan 8 kms through Gangotri Glacier, with packed lunch. Dinner & overnight in camp

Day 07:
Bhojwasa

On day 7 of Gangotri Nandanvan Trek, we do a 12-km trek to Bhojwasa with packed lunch. Dinner & overnight in Bhojwasa.

Day 08:
Gangotri

Trek to Gangotri 14 kms with packed lunch. Dinner & overnight in Gangotri.

Day 09:
Gangotri- Hardwar

270 kms drive to Rishikesh. Lunch en route. Arrival Hardwar and transfer to the station time to catch train for delhi. On arrival met at the station and transfer to the hotel.

Day 10 :
Delhi-Departure

Morning sightseeing tour of delhi in the evening transfer to the airport time to catch flight for onward destination.
